"M.O.K.O", more specifically "M.O.K.O V3", is unlocked after repairing the robot on Floor 4. A machine designed by Dr. Valora with the sole purpose of rescuing his daughter from the Rabbit Hole. She boasts a moving melee and a parry, favoring defensive gameplay. She starts with the Bell Ringer and the FC00.

How To Unlock

To unlock M.O.K.O, you must get bring both robot parts, the robot head and the robot leg at the same time. The hints to find the robot parts are found in the first two M.O.K.O reports.

Finding the Head

To find the robot head, you must retrace the steps of M.O.K.O V1. On Floor 1, after defeating Magnolia, go back to the first room and shoot up. There the M.O.K.O Buddy will drop the robot head and a flare gun. Pick up both of them.

Finding the Leg

To find the robot leg, you must retrace the steps of M.O.K.O V2. On Floor 2, after defeating the Tank Twins, jump over the hole that leads to Floor 3 (using the flare gun is recommended). Then, break the right most wall with the flare gun (or any gun that causes an explosion), there you will find Bluko. Take the leg from her, and head down to Floor 3.

Repairing the Robot

Now comes the hard part. You need to get to the end of Floor 4 with both robot parts in hand. Luckily, this isn't a "melee only" challenge. You can grab a gun and drop any robot part, as long as you pick it up later. Bring both robot parts to the broken robot and congratulations! you now unlocked M.O.K.O

Note, you can not fix the robot with the "Your weapons are randomized every room" deal, as those "robot parts" are made with paper mache

Lore

The M.O.K.O Initiative was created after Dr. Valora lost his daughter, Livia Valora, to the Rabbit Hole. The robot M.O.K.O, was designed to be able to enter the Rabbit Hole and retrive Livia Valora from there, shielding her from the various threats that could come for them.

In the M.O.K.O reports, each robot is subsequently destroyed. M.O.K.O V1 was destroyed by Magnolia, where she is described as a "Flower Human". M.O.K.O V2 was destroyed by the Tank Twins, described plainly as humans with "HEAVY_ARTILLERY". The third M.O.K.O was able to locate Livia Valora in the Finale near the giant ribs, before the robot went offline again.

M.O.K.O is last mentioned in The contract as M.O.K.O V5. For unspecified reasons, the creation of the V5 robot is taking longer than expected. M.O.K.O V5 was able to detect the presence of The Reaper

Parry

Not gonna sugarcoat it

M.O.K.O's special move is a parry. The parry deals double M.O.K.O's melee damage. It is active for 13 frames (~0.217s) and has a 33 frame cool-down (0.55s) with no wind-up. After landing a successful parry, M.O.K.O ripostes for 19 frames (~0.317s) and has 76 frames of i-frames (~1.267s), which means that M.O.K.O has 57 frames (~0.950s) of free movement with invincibility.

While this sounds amazing, M.O.K.O can not successfully land a parry while she is invincible. Which means she can not parry directly after parrying or taking damage (114 i-frames, ~1.9 seconds). Which means you can not chain parries or parry right after taking damage.

Melee

M.O.K.O's melee dashes across about a third of the stage, targeting a line of enemies at once. It has a wind-up of 20 frames (~0.333s), active for 23 frames (~0.383s), and has a cooldown of 12 frames (~0.200s) for a total of 55 frames (~0.917s).

"Once again, I've cut another worthless object."

ADVANCED TIPS

  • Dropping down or fast-falling on an enemy is an easy way to and a parry and deal massive damage
  • Dennis' increase melee damage deal will increase your parry damage
  • Although you can not deflect projectiles, parrying a projectile while an enemy is close will damage any enemy.
  • M.O.K.O's long windups make her slow, and ill suited against bosses, however using parry attacks instead of melee attacks will give you similar DPS as dual wielding.
